Day 6 in Panama

Today was a unique and special day for all of us. On May 25th, we had the opportunity to visit the community of (name) to give a talk and presentation about water conservation. We left at 7:30 a.m., which was quite early, to ensure we arrived on time at (name). We prepared by loading all our posters and materials into the car so that everything was ready for our presentation.

After an hour of driving, we arrived, and from the very first moment, the community welcomed us warmly. We participated in a ceremony and also learned about their traditional dances. We learned about the needs and frustrations of the community.

Next, we visited some of the medicinal plant gardens of Mr. Rogelio, where we learned about various healing plants and the local fruits of the community. Following this, we proceeded to present our talk on water conservation. My colleagues and I presented different posters and activities. Some of the topics we covered included what contaminated water is, the bacteria found in water that we cannot see, and the importance of clean water for human health and our lives.

We also conducted an activity with two bottles of water, where one bottle had a strange taste to illustrate that even if water looks clean, it might be contaminated if not treated properly. We then had another presentation on the common sources of water contamination. My colleagues showed images from the community and explained how their water could be contaminated in their homes and the precautions they should take.

The posters and activities continued, and by the end of the presentation, we felt satisfied with our work. We had delivered a unique message about the importance of water conservation for better health and a better life.
